Time Zone Converter
Convert a date and time between 13 major world time zones, with daylight saving time handled correctly for the exact date you enter.
Fixed UTC-offset tables get daylight saving time wrong for roughly half the year in every zone that observes it — a converter that says "New York is always UTC-5" is only correct outside DST. This tool reads the actual timezone rules for the specific date you enter, using the same timezone database built into your browser, so the offset shown is correct whether or not daylight saving is in effect on that date. Enter a date, time, and source time zone, and see the equivalent local time across 13 major cities at once.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does this tool handle daylight saving time correctly?
It reads the actual timezone rules for the specific date entered using the browser's built-in timezone database (the same one operating systems and most software use), rather than applying one fixed UTC offset per zone. That means the offset shown is automatically correct whether the date falls inside or outside daylight saving time for that zone.
Why do some time zones show a half-hour or 45-minute offset?
Not every time zone is offset from UTC by a whole hour. India Standard Time is UTC+5:30, and a small number of other zones use 30- or 45-minute offsets. This is a real feature of how time zones are defined, not a rounding error.
Can I convert a time zone that isn't in the list?
The list covers 13 major zones chosen to represent every populated UTC offset region. If you need a specific city not listed, use the closest zone in the same country or region — most locations within one country share the same time zone rules.
Common Mistakes
❌ Assuming a fixed offset works year-round
Most US and European time zones shift by an hour for daylight saving time roughly half the year. A converter using a fixed offset ("always UTC-5") is wrong for whichever half of the year it doesn't account for — this tool reads the actual date-specific rule instead.
❌ Scheduling across the DST transition itself
The one or two days each year when a time zone's clocks actually change are genuinely ambiguous or skip an hour entirely. If you're scheduling something exactly on a transition date, double-check the specific time with the people involved rather than relying on any calculator.
❌ Confusing a time zone name with its abbreviation
"ET" alone doesn't specify whether it means Eastern Standard Time or Eastern Daylight Time — the abbreviation itself changes with the season. Referring to the IANA zone name (e.g. America/New_York) sidesteps the ambiguity entirely, which is what this tool does internally.
